About IMPERO

IMPERO is a voluntary organisation in existence since its foundation at a public meeting in Ballymascanlon Hotel, Co. Louth, on 1 April 1989.  The full name of the organisation is; Irish Mental Patients’ Educational and Representative Organisation.  The name tells you what we set out to do.  Basically we want to reduce and eventually eliminate the isolation of mental patients.  Naturally if conditions can be improved along the way we will be as pleased as punch.  Our methods are not medical or quasi medical.  Our outlook and philosophy is educational and developmental based on the principles of community development.
